COURSE OVERVIEW
The CompEx Ex01-04 Gas and Vapours qualification at Infinity Skills is a globally recognized, hands-on certification for electrical and instrument technicians working in explosive atmosphere environments. Delivered over five intensive in-person days in a realistic simulated hazardous area, candidates gain practical competence in Ex installation, inspection, and maintenance — directly aligned to IEC 60079:0, IEC 60079:10.1, and IEC 60079:14.
Successful candidates earn a CompEx Certificate in Core Competence — one of the most widely demanded Ex credentials across oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and energy sectors worldwide.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion, candidates will be able to:
- Install and inspect Ex-certified electrical equipment in gas and vapour hazardous areas
- Identify and apply appropriate Ex protection methods per IEC 60079 standards
- Read and interpret Ex equipment markings accurately
- Determine permitted and prohibited maintenance and repair activities on Ex equipment
- Apply IEC 60079:0, 10.1, and 14 requirements in practical scenarios
WHO SHOULD JOIN?
- Practicing electrical and instrument technicians installing, inspecting, or maintaining Ex equipment in gas and vapour hazardous locations
- Electrical and instrument engineers with relevant practical field experience
- Contractors where CompEx certification is a contractual or site-access requirement
- Candidates who have completed CompEx Foundation (EXF) and are ready to progress

COURSE METHODOLOGY
The course runs over five in-person days, combining instructor-led theory with extensive practical training in a purpose-built simulated hazardous area environment:
- Theory sessions cover IEC 60079 standards, Ex protection concepts, area classification, equipment selection, and the regulatory framework
- Practical training involves direct work with Ex equipment covering installation, inspection, and maintenance techniques under expert CompEx-qualified supervision
- Assessment consists of an online theory exam and a formal practical assessment — both must be passed to achieve certification
COURSE DURATION
5 Days — In-Person
- 3 days of guided learning
- 2 days of practical assessment covering four separate CompEx units via practical assessments and online examination
COURSE CERTIFICATES
CompEx Certificate in Core Competence — Ex01-04 (Gas & Vapours)
- Globally recognized across oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and energy sectors
- Frequently mandated by operators and EPCs as a site-access requirement
- Issued under the internationally respected CompEx certification framework
