COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the directives and regulations governing hazardous areas
- Identify and interpret the IEC 60079 series of standards relevant to explosive atmospheres
- Explain why additional protections are necessary when working in or around Ex areas
- Recognize Ex signage and understand the meaning of area classifications
- Distinguish between permitted and prohibited activities within Ex areas and on Ex equipment
- Articulate the responsibilities of personnel operating in potentially explosive environments

COURSE METHODOLOGY
Option 1 — In-Person Classroom + Online Exam
- Structured instructor-led classroom sessions at an Infinity Skills training facility, supported by expert trainers with extensive industry experience. The qualification is completed via an online theory examination.
Option 2 — Self-Paced E-Learning + Online Exam
- Candidates complete course content at their own pace through an accredited e-learning platform — ideal for shift-based schedules or geographically distributed teams. The online exam is taken at an authorized center or remotely, subject to prior arrangement. Both pathways are fully accredited and lead to the same internationally recognized certification.

Do I need any prior experience or qualifications to enroll?

The JTL-UK Certificate is valid for 5 years. Infinity Skills can support you with renewal when the time comes.
Does this qualify me for hands-on Ex work?
No — this is an awareness-level qualification. For hands-on installation, inspection, or maintenance, candidates should progress to CompEx Ex01–04.
Is the certificate internationally recognized?
Yes — accepted by employers and regulators across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and beyond under the IECEx and ATEX frameworks.
