COURSE OVERVIEW
Prepare natural gas field workers to safely investigate residential gas leaks
VR Natural Gas Leak Emergency Response challenges trainees in utilities companies to search for, find, and properly respond to a simulated gas leak emergency in a residential neighborhood. With multi-user functionality, scenario randomization, and real-time reporting and analytics, it’s the most advanced, intense, and engaging VR training for those working in the natural gas industry

COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course provides a comprehensive practical assessment based on industry-standard emergency dispatch protocols and OSHA regulations.
Participants will learn how to master 5 core learning objectives:
- Detection: Systematically trace a reported odor to find the exact subterranean or structural leak source.
- Classification: Accurately evaluate gas concentrations to determine the Leak Grade (Grade 1, 2, or 3) and trigger the correct emergency response timeframes.
- Marking: Utilize specialized utility tools to physically mark, pin, and tag the boundary lines of a leak zone.
- Hazard Recognition: Audit structural safety devices, identify Abnormal Operating Conditions (AOCs), and clear debris or impediments blocking emergency access.
WHO SHOULD JOIN?
This training is purposefully built for utility companies, municipal providers, and energy contractors
- First-generation natural gas field technicians and apprentices.
- Emergency dispatch responders and leak survey crews.
- Utility safety directors and field training coordinators.
- Fire departments and municipal emergency personnel working alongside utility companies.
- Operations managers looking for advanced, data-driven compliance auditing tools.

COURSE METHODOLOGY
We utilize an interactive, multi-step field simulation that rigorously evaluates real-time decision-making
- The Dispatch Work Order: Trainees start by reviewing a residential leak complaint before conducting external building and foundation checks.
- Subterranean CGI Testing: Technicians use Combustible Gas Indicator (CGI) tools to sample air and pull readings from high-risk migration paths, including main line sewer manholes, catch basins, and utility vaults.
- Site Command Simulation: Once a leak is classified, the trainee must execute proper safety steps. If it is a critical Grade 1 leak, they must secure the perimeter and remain live on the scene until a repair crew arrives.
- The Grading Room: The simulation concludes when all documentation is submitted. Trainees enter a virtual review suite to view real-time reporting analytics and instantly restart a newly randomized leak scenario.
COURSE DURATION
5days
COURSE CERTIFICATES
Trainees who successfully detect, properly grade, mark, and document the randomized leak emergency will be awarded a formal Certificate of VR Natural Gas Leak Emergency Response and Field Proficiency.
FAQS
